From zero to a talking character in Web SDK

    Install the package

    Add the SDK to your project:

    npm install @neocortex-link/web
  2. 2

    Add the proxy

    Mount createNeocortexHandler on your server. It keeps your API key there, checks who is talking and limits which characters they can reach.

  3. 3

    Drop in a character

    Place the chat element on any page:

    <neocortex-chat endpoint="/api/neocortex" character-id="..." voice></neocortex-chat>

Neocortex for Web SDK: common questions

Is the Neocortex Web SDK free?

The SDK is open source under Apache-2.0. Conversations use credits from your Neocortex plan, which includes a free tier.

Why does it need a server?

Neocortex API keys are secret. The SDK's proxy runs on your server so the key never reaches the browser, where anyone could read and spend it.

Does it work with React or Vue?

Yes. The UI is made of standard Web Components, which work in React, Vue, Svelte, Angular and plain HTML.

Can I build my own UI?

Yes. The browser client gives you SmartAgent, GroupDirector and QuizAgent classes with events for every line, emotion and action.
